Golden, flaky Italian sausage rolls wrapped around savory sausage. Irresistibly delicious bites await! To be honest, I barely eat these rolls as snacks. They're more like my meal prep brunch and lunch on the go. Definitely gives me enough protein and energy to keep going with a busy day for at least a few hours or more.
The puff pastry sheets normally comes frozen, make sure to thaw it by following the instruction on the packet of leave it in the fridge to thaw overnight.
Heat the skillet, add oil and sauté the onion until translucent. Sprinkle sugar for extra sweetness and caramelization. Set it aside
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle. Layer the middle of the pastry sheet with the fresh sausage and top with the sauté onion.
Pinch the side of the pastry closed. Cut the dough in halves and the cut into fourths.
Beat and egg then brush the egg wash on the top of the pastry dough. Make some cuts or score the dough with a knife or scissors.
Sprinkle the sesame seeds then chill the dough in the fridge or freezer for at least 20 minutes. In the mean time, set the oven to about 400 Fahrenheit or about 200 degree celsius.
Bake at 400 Fahrenheit or about 200 degree celsius for 18 - 20 minutes. Let them cool on the rack and keep in the air tight container for your meal prep. Enjoy!
