Italian Sausage Rolls Recipe
Golden, flaky Italian Sausage Rolls perfection wrapped around savory sausage. Irresistibly delicious bites await! To be honest, I barely eat these rolls as snacks. They’re more like my meal prep brunch and lunch on the go. Definitely gives me enough protein and energy to keep going with a busy day for at least a few hours or more.
Baking Tip
- Wether you are using a homemade pastry dough or a store bought ones, after brushing the rolls with egg wash, refrigerate or freeze the pastry for at least 20 – 30 minutes before baking. This will ensure the puff pastry dough will actually puffed up the second it hits the oven heat.
- No need to grease the sheet pan. The pastry dough already has a lot of butter in it. Plus the sausage itself has a lot of fat.
- In my lazy way, I used the store bought pastry and Italian sausage. However, if you’d like to make your own Italian sausage to use for this recipe and others. Here’s my Italian sausage recipe.
- (From my observation), I’ve noticed that any temperature from 400 – 430 F and the 18 – 20 minutes bake time works well for me.
- It is important that you poke, score, or cut some holes on the dough so that the fat from the sausage has more ways to let the fat out and the bottom of the pastry will not get soggy.
