Red Curry Wonton Soup
When life gives you a husband who turns your house into the North Pole, whip up this creamy red curry wonton soup for a cozy, quick dinner. This recipe is perfect for those who steer clear of fish sauce, even though I still can’t quite figure out why! Thanks to some Thai restaurant tips, I’ve got a curry trick for everyone, even the fish sauce skeptics.
Ingredients for Wonton Curry
I used my homemade frozen wontons for this curry soup, but you can easily use fresh wontons too. However, If you’re interested in making your own, be sure to check out my simple wonton soup recipe. And if you’re in a hurry, just grab your favorite brand of frozen wontons from the store. Any option will be scrumptious.
To replace the fish sauce, I substitute chicken bouillon for that umami flavor. This is a curry trick I picked up from Thai restaurants. Additionally, tomatoes and diced onions add even more umami to the soup. For the curry paste, popular brands like Mae Ploy, Maesri, and Aroy-D work well, but I used my homemade red curry paste that I had on hand.
How to Tell If the Wontons Are Cooked
The easiest way to tell if your wontons are ready and safe to eat is when they float to the top of the boiling water or broth. Generally, it takes about 4-6 minutes to cook frozen wontons.
